Evergreen Christmas Stocking - Free Crochet Pattern

Here is a more traditional version of a Christmas Stocking! We used a textured yarn to add some fluff and character to the party. Take a look and let us know what you think! Enjoy!





Pattern Notes:

This pattern is worked from the toe up to the cuff.

Gauge:


4” x 4” (10 cm x 10 cm) 12 sc and 15 rows with a 5.5 mm (U.S I-9) crochet hook

Finished measurements:

18in long, 8in wide


Abbreviations:

RND: Round CH = Chain

Sts: Stitches

SC = Single crochet

DC = Double crochet

SK: Skip

FPTC: Front post triple crochet

FPDC: Front post double crochet

BPDC: Back post double crochet


Pattern:

Toe: With Buff Fleck, ch 16 Rnd 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in ea ch across, continue to work next stitches on the opposite side of the ch, sc in ea ch across (30) Rnd 2: (2 sc in next st, sc in next 13 sts, 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 13 sts, 2 sc in next st (you should now be back to your first 2sc at the beginning of this round) (34) Rnd 3: (2 SC in next st, SC in next 15 sts, 2 sc in next 2 SC, sc in next 15 sts, 2 SC in next st (38) Rnd 4: (2 SC in next st, SC in next 17 sts, 2 SC in next 2 SC, sc in next 17 sts, 2 SC in next st (42) Rnd 5: (2 SC in next st, SC in next 19 sts, 2 SC in next 2 SC, sc in next 19 sts, 2 SC in next st (46) Rnd 6: (2 SC in next st, SC in next 21 sts, 2 SC in next 2 SC, SC in next 21 sts, 2 SC in next st (50) Rnd 7-10: SC in ea SC around (50)




Begin foot: Rnd 10: Change to Frosted pine, HDC in each st around, join with a slst to the top of the first HDC (50)

Rnd 11: Ch 1, HDC in each st around, join with a slst to the top of the first HDC (50)

Rnd 12: Change to Buff Fleck: SC in each st around, join with a slst to the top of the first SC (50)


Repeat Rnd 10-12 3 more times.

Begin working heel space for heel:

Rnd 1: Continue with Buff Fleck, ch 25, sk 25 sts and join with a slst. Bind off. You are now on the opposite side of the foot. Rnd 2: With Frosted Pine, return back to the opposite side of the foot, where all the colour changes have occurred. Join with a SLST to where the first ch began from the prior row. Ch1, HDC in each 25 ch, continue in pattern: HDC in next 25 stitches (50)

Rnd 3: Ch 1, HDC in each st around, join with a slst to the top of the first HDC (50)

Rnd 4: Change to Buff Fleck: SC in each st around, join with a slst to the top of the first SC (50)




Begin working the leg:

Rnd 1: Change to Frosted pine, HDC in each st around, join with a slst to the top of the first HDC (50)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, HDC in each st around, join with a slst to the top of the first HDC (50)

Rnd 3: Change to Buff Fleck: SC in each st around, join with a slst to the top of the first SC (50)


Repeat Rnd 1-3 6 more times.


Cuff: Rnd 1: With Buff Fleck, ch2, dc in each st across, join with a slst to the top of the ch2 at start. Rnd 2: Ch 2, *FPDC, BPDC* repeat from * around, join with a slst to the top of the ch 2 start Repeat Rnd 2 5 more times making sure your FPDC are always aligned with the previous rnd FPDC, and same with BPDC. Bind off. Weave in ends.



Heel: With right-side facing, join Buff Fleck with slst in 1st st* of heel opening. (This will be the stitch at the very right, on the bottom of the opening, see picture below) Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in ea st to chs, over chs work. Do not join. Heel is worked in a spiral. 50 sc Rnd 2 (dec): (Sc2tog in 1st 2 sts, sc in next 17 )2x. 48st Rnds 3-12 (dec): (Sc2tog in 1st 2 sts, sc to next dec)2x. 28 sc remain after last round – 14 on top, 14 on bottom) At the end of last round, finish off keeping a long tail to sew heel shut. Sew heel shut.
